Heritage Open Days 1998 in Hemyock, Devon.

On Sunday 13th September 1998, from 2 to 6 pm, Hemyock Castle and Village again took part in this hugely popular celebration of culture and heritage: See the Full Press Release.

Hemyock Castle is set in the now tranquil Culm Valley in Devon, England, just a few miles from the M5 Motorway and Taunton. The site is a scheduled Ancient Monument.

Special events on Sunday 13th September 1998 from 2 to 6 pm included:

• Hemyock Castle:
  • Special Display of Crafts and Photographs from Southern Sri Lanka, by members of the Janashakthi Bank micro credit union.
  • Castle Tours.
  • Meet the "Sutton Family" (re-enactment group).
  • Village Trail includes:
    • Historic Landmarks.
    • Ornate Village Pump.

• St Mary's Church:
  • Ancient Tithe Maps and Tithe Apportionments.
  • Historical and Photographic Displays.
  • Tower Climbs.
  • Tours.
  • Teas.
  • Evensong at 6.30 pm.

All were warmly invited to Evensong in St Mary's Church at 6.30 pm.

Normally only open for public tours on Bank Holiday Mondays
(2 to 5 pm) between Easter and September.
